The MESA University Program at UCSB is an undergraduate retention initiative designed to support STEM students from educationally, economically, or geographically disadvantaged backgrounds. We are pleased to invite you to apply for our annual UCSB MESA University Program Scholarship. By submitting a single application (including all required supporting materials), MESA-enrolled STEM students will be considered for multiple MESA and industry-sponsored scholarships (such as the MESA Scholarship and various Corporate Scholarships). Please note that certain scholarships may have specific eligibility criteria related to major, program, college, or other guidelines as outlined in their respective requirements. Scholarship amounts will vary.
Applicants should demonstrate leadership, resourcefulness, high personal standards, and a strong commitment to supporting student organizations, UCSB MESA programs, and the broader community in achieving their goals of advancing students in STEM fields both on and off campus.
Eligibility:
- Be a current and active MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) student
- Full-Time & Good Academic Standing
- Minimum Cumulative 2.7 GPA
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) Major

- Complete 3 short responses to the following questions:
- Describe your current financial need
- Describe either a leadership accomplishment and/or academic accomplishment that aligns with your aspirations
- Describe how your community has shaped your values and influenced your actions
- Optional: Letter of recommendation emailed by recommender (faculty/staff strongly encouraged) to UCSB MUP Interim Director, Melani Castellanos (melanicastellanos@ucsb.edu) by application deadline
